My career goal is to become a cross-cultural student counselor assisting international students who are studying in Japan. Because experiences as an international student would provide me with opportunities to become a qualified therapist in the field, I would like to pursue a degree at your university with a major in psychology.
There are increasing number of students coming to Japan from all over the world. As a part of Japan's internationalization program, many students come to study with scholarship programs from three to four years. While many of these students receive financial assistance, they often experience isolation from the community and find it difficult to adjust to life in Japan. As a qualified psychologist who has also studied and lived overseas, I hope to work at a university and assist international students experiencing cross-cultural difficulties.
Therefore I would like to study at a university in the US where psychology is more advanced than in Japan and where people from different backgrounds and cultures constantly try to find ways to live together. As mentioned above, I also would like to study in the US so that, as a psychologist, I can help resolve challenges that many international students experience in Japan. Your university has an excellent reputation, and is one where I would like to study to become a qualified psychologist.
I have been a member of the International cross-cultural club at ICC Junior College since my freshman year. I had good relationships with fellow members from Asia, Africa and Europe. We learn to understand and embrace our differences through various activities, but I feel that there are more opportunities for me to learn in many ways at your university. I hope that you will approve my application. I am determined to work hard, and wish to be an active member of your diverse international students' body.
